Lightball.
Ok, I have the powerball neon. Its very pretty in a dark room.
But it got me thinking that, well, it doesnt glow enough. It glows enough to light up itself, but somehow I find myself trying to wind the thing up fast enough to make light to see by.
So, heres hoping that a "lightball" gets produced. Led torches can produce quite powerful light nowadays - if this thing emitted enough white light to see by that would be really neat. I ould take it camping and not worry about batteries

A powerfull light would really slow down the ball.
And I'm sure that, with yours, you should obtain great light by running the ball at high speeds.

yeah it would slow it down but I think it would be REALLY great if there was a powerball that was just focused on producing light. like it would still spin, but just fast enough so that you could keep it going. I really think something like this should be made, because one of the coolest things about a powerball is that it produces light just from the work you do with your hand. Please make a powerball like this!

You would still have to spin it very quickly to make enough power, it would take as much, or likely a little bit more energy than it would to turn a crank on a generator.
It would be very cool though.
I'm also curious whether the led powerballs have current limiting resistors. Has anyone looked at theirs carefully?

I was thinking along the same lines. Use a powerball as a mini generator for camping etc. I'm sure with some clever electronics, it can charge up a battery pack.
The primary use would be to just power up an LED torch (a-la an Inova).
Definitely better than having to hand crank, and easier to use while walking. Powerball flashlight(TM) you heard about it here first.
