Glad things seem to be coming together for you again James.

Looking forward to seeing you consolidate your place in the 15k club soon.

Thanks for the grats. I'll give you a little run down on why i been so quiet etc and how i got back to the 15K+ speeds.

2 months ago not long after getting my record i decided to generally get a lot fitter and faster for my rugby as my team has now been promoted, and our 7s team won a few tournaments last year and has now been invited to overseas tournaments so we all going to have to be realy fit and quick.

After going onto my diet I seemed to loose all ability at the powerball. First only getting 14.7K, then 14.5K till even 14K was a real struggle. After lots of frustration i decided just to stop for a month (though i admit i used occasionally, and for live events).

2 weeks ago i'd managed to get a lot fitter and lost a stone in weight and so changed my diet to more energy based foods. So idecided to pick the powerball back up. First session and i was hitting 14.5K+ again, so I knew I was on the way back up.

Over the next 2 weeks I was improving nearly every session till on Monday night i hit 14.9K.

Knowing we had the live competion on Tuesday I got a massage about 3 hours before it (I get them once a fortnight anyway, I just changed the day to coincide with the competition) as i know they help lossen my muscles.

At the competetion I only had 1 hour as i had to leave at 7pm GMT to go sprint training. As such I concentrated totally on speed, only doing the odd 90s/30s run to help with speed. I hit 13.5K from cold, then hit 14K after 1 90s run. From there hit 14.3k i think. Then I did a hard 30s and then hit 14.6K. Built up to about 14.7K then did another 90s. After that I hit 14.8K, then several 14.9Ks then finally popped over 15K literally 5 mins before i Had to leave. I don't know if I could have gone faster, i think not, but was a good session.
Also I got 12999 LH, very frustrating as been a while sonce 13K LH.

I going to start training hard on my powerball again as I really want to firstly get into the world top 5, and then secondly try to close the massive 500rpm gap there seems to be to get into the world top 4.

I'll keep you up dated on my scores from now on.

    James

I sometimes wish I had something to push me into getting fitter overall. Don't belong to any sports clubs anymore, so the only reason would be personal gain, and that's not enough incentive sometimes!

Good luck with your progression, and also good luck with your Rugby. Just watch those thumbs!!

HEHE, i'll do my best to look after my thumbs.
I agree having something to get fit for helps a lot, I would also struggle to motivate myself to stay fit if i didn't have a specific reason for it.
