    Question Counter + Techno?

    Hello all!

I have had my powerball for around three months or so but I really cant get the hang on being able to read the Techno's led's. Last week my brother bought himself a powerball and as he was ordering it, he purchased a seperate digital speed meter so that I can finally work out what speed I'm getting.
Of course as usual I probably should have read around here to see if I can actually fit it So from what I've read so far, you cant actually fit the digital speed meter to a Techno unless you ask for it when ordering, is this correct?
I would really love to be able to finally work out my speed (and yes I have followed the numerous threads on here regarding reading the Techno's leds)

Apart from that my powerball is great and seems to be working quite well!

Hopefully someone can tell me if I've wasted my money on something that I really cant use or if there is indeed a way of fitting it.
    Thanks
    Steve

As far as I am aware you can't fit a normal counter to a techno. I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along shortly to confirm or correct this.

    Hi BaccyNet,

You're right. You can't mount a counter onto a Techno shell, simply because it doesn't have a removable cap where the counter normally fits on regular 250Hz PowerBalls. You could ask Enda (enda@powerballs.com)or Rory (rory@powerballs.com) for a regular blue shell half to mount the counterthat your brother purchased. It perfectly fits to the other half of your Techno shell. The only thing is that if you do so, you cannot transfer the special white ring that lies on the track of the Techno's shell half. This ring is specifically designed to extend the life span of the Techno's rotor track (to read the score, you have to let the rotor revolve around the steel axle only, keeping it 'stationary'; during this process, the rotor axle can easily damage the rotor track of regular 250Hz PowerBalls as it 'digs' a dent into the track). However, if you have a counter, there is no need to use the white ring as the special Techno-reading-score technique is not required.

I haven't encountered any interference from the Techno's innards on the regular counter, so you can give it a try...

    Hope this helps,
    Dennis

Just to update, the great people from Powerball sent me a new top half so that the new counter could be fitted. After quite a bit of work (the little blighter wouldnt open ) I can finally read the score on my Techno.
The only minor problem now is I think I may have scratched the bottom half of the shell on the inside as the powerball feels a little strange and is making a bit of a noise, hopefully I can sort that out if it doesnt sort itself.

I would also like to thank Enda for the help they gave me. Thats gotta be the best customer support ever!

    Thanks
    Steve
