    Default UV LEDs

How about replacing a couple of the blue LEDs with ultra violet ones. If you shine a UV light source onto the rotor, it glows very strongly due to the fluorescent colour of the plastic. I have tried this with a UV LED and it's more impressive than the blue LEDs.

That sounds like a great idea! haven't you got any problem to properly balance the rotor? (changing the led will also change the balance).
Laser LED could be amazing as well. Pl. lemme know if u try that :-)

If you do decide to try and replace the LEDs just be careful you select suitable replacement LEDs based on resistance, voltage and current requirements. Some LEDs require additional components to be driven properly (most commonly by a resistor). A replacement LED might also not light up as well because the powerball can't generate enought voltage or current.

wow this sounds like a cool idea. rory why doesnt powerballs allow more LED color choices? I would love something like ultra bright white leds

Yes i'd like to see a wider selection of colors like purple red yellow orange etc.

I want to see white LEDs too.
If tri-colour red/green (which becomes orange if supplied with AC current) LEDs were used along with maybe a few blue and white ones then you could produce a nice smooth colour variation as the RPM changes.
I'd add a UV LED that turns on at 12,000 RPM or so, to give beginners a target to work for.

Actually that higher speed UV led sounds great : imagine it you're spinning your ball and it shining, then another light appears like magic and makes the UV ecitable plastic shine... That would be really nice!

That would be just cool to see the color vary when RPM changes. That would be also nice to get other colors to powerballs (Is green and blue enough, honestly?)
