    Default Hi Jaco Snyman!

    Hi Jaco,

It's been a while since you submitted your incredible 15026 score. As far as I know, you were the third to officially break the 250Hz barrier.

When I started PowerBalling (around that same date; March 2006), I was really impressed by that achievement and understood that it's not a requirement to have a physique like Akis to get those speeds. I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable, but since that legendary submission of yours, you are someone for whom I have the utmost respect and you have motivated me a lot to achieve the same goal.

Any chance of you submitting a new record in the near future? I hope to see you around more often.

    Kind regards,
    Dennis

    Thanks for the welcome back

I'm glad that i could of motivated you (altough we've never met before).

I started Powerballing in 2003 already, looking for a device that could help build more muscle and help with endurance, as I enjoy Juggling and want to break the World record for the longest juggling session without a drop. (record standing at 11 Hours 4 Minutes 22 Seconds).

Believe it or not the first submission i entered was only bout 12600. At that time it was the top 30 Scoreboard. I was in the number 30 position for about a day or two. The number 1 position was held by Paul Barron (14458).

I kept on practising and got back on the board. I broke the 13k Barrier and didnt expect to break the 14K mark. I was at a personal high at that time and submitted record after record, untill I submitted my 148?? score in 2004.

In 2005 I started a new job and didnt powerball for a long time (I did still have the occasional spin ,but not as much as I should of). I had more time on my hands at the end of 2005 and started to get back into shape. I started off with low 14K scores and improved quickly again in the following months. I was excited to break my personal best and had a score of 149??.

At that time Akis was breaking record after record. I wanted to be second to break the 15K mark but Mark jumped in front of me and in March I was the 3rd person to break the 15k Mark. I was really excited.

At the moment I'm out of shape again and only hitting low 14K scores. I will try and get back into shape and hopefully I can submit an even better score.

I always kept an eye on the scoreboard and I'm glad to see your improvement Dennis. Soon you will join us in the top 10! I'm looking forward to seeing your scores improve more and more. Waiting for you to break the 15K mark and pass me (if Im not back in shape yet).

    Just keep them spinning

    Regards,

    Jaco

    Hey Jaco,

I know that 14870 was your World Record Breaking score back in 2004, as that was the time I started Powerballing. I was scoring around 12000, and someone posted on another forum a video of you in a toy-shop, scoring 14571 or something, and I was most impressed.

Didn't you get a Metal Powerball? I seem to remember you posting a thread about wearing gloves, and I'm sure you mentioned the Metal. Do you have a best score with your left hand? Do you ever do 90-second endurance scores? I've always done them and found that they really help with getting the arm into shape for some speed runs.

Yes I did get a metal. My personal best at 12731. I havent submitted the score yet as i need a video first. I achieved the score last year when I was still in shape and I'm scoring around 12350 at the moment. Give me a month or so to get back into shape then I will submit the score.

I wont even mention my left hand. I never really practised with my left hand untill recently. My left hand score is bout 12646.

When I started powerballing the counter only had 30sec endurance runs, so when I got the new counter i didnt really use the 90sec function. I'm going to try the 90sec endurance when I'm getting back into shape.

    I will keep you posted

    Hi Jaco,

I'm happy to have a 'talk' with you being one of the most inspiring participants in the field. I find it quite pleasing that those excellent PowerBallers stay friendly without getting an 'air'; which is not always true for other sports, unfortunately. Also very nice to read a bit about your background. That's what you get when you become famous (or notorious); people start to ask themselves things like: "who is that guy with such incredible achievements; is he really human?" ;o)

Anyway, any success with the record-breaking juggling attempt? I find PowerBall very beneficial for my rock climbing activities (although too much PowerBalling in a week decreases my climbing achievements dramatically). A fellow climber of mine showed the device about 2 years ago, but I wasn't really impressed or interested. Nine months ago, I was looking for some climbing gear in a local shop and found them again on the desk. My curiosity got aroused and I had a look on the Internet. Decided to buy one from this site and submitted a 12.6k (is that right, Adrena1in?) after 10 days of PowerBalling (which got me in the lowest boundaries of the top-400). I adopted many different techniques (I still do occasionally) and included the 90-sec endurance training sessions, which have increased my speed records tremendously!

I broke 13k with an old (and severely-abused) Neon I received from my sister and from then on, started to increase with regular intervals, hitting 14k a few months back, achieving a 14490 record with my Techno and now I'm around 14.7k with both an Old Skool PowerBall and a new 250Hz pro. I have many different kinds of PowerBalls (also a Metal) and have become totally addicted to the shiny orbs.

Well, Jaco, I really hope to keep seeing you around on the forum and will await your new speed record! I'm also looking forward to a 90-sec Strength/Endurance submission from yours. Like Adrena1in suggests, I found these very beneficial for my own achievements; really good way to get in shape rapidly.

    Kind regards,
    Dennis

Whatever happens, let us know when you go for the juggling record. I'm thinking of doing a similar thing...constant Powerballing for a whole day. I figure I can clock the counter, (10,000,000 revs), within the space of 24 hours.

Like I said before, thanks for the welcome! And you will definately "see" me around more often! I will keep you updated on my progress as I start to train again.

As for the juggling record, that will only happen end of next year (I hope). Its not just strength you need for a record like that, its also mental strength (which I am working on). My current record time for juggling is about 2 Hours 45 Minutes. The only difficulty to the record is finding time to practice. (getting the time for juggling 3 or more hours a day is a bit difficult)
