A Guy at work bought the Techno, and for the first few attempts we never seemed to get a score posted at all, regularly getting the "NSD POWERBALL" which if you read the info posted above , will tell you just means you weren't quick enough...

we then progressed to getting the score displayed, but swirling round and illegible...... frustrating, but youre nearly there

basically it's all in the info linked above, but you just have to 'feel' the right strength of grip when trying to read it.... it will come

The biggest problem we have had, is that when you are new to it, its frustrating, that if you take to long to get it up to speed, the blue led comes on , and it has changed to strength mode....meaning even if you get a great speed up subsequently, you wont get a readout!!!

you have to let the blue led extinguish completely rotating very slowly, and then pick it back up, or start again, and try to get the speed up quicker.

we are slowly building up our speed, but cant get anywhere near the figures quoted here

But at least we are improving,..... day one we were just shy of 10k, Day 2 up to around 10.6k, and day 3 have just broken 11.2k,

The more you practice the better the 'feel' you get.

Havent seen many posts of techno speeds, so it's hard to tell how far we are from 'average', as I read that techno's are slower, but not by how much LOL

Hope you get to read your score real soon LOL

Keep at it , as everyone says ...its EXTREMELY addictive

I don't want to disappoint you, but 18633 rpm is a score that sounds a little too good to be true and would make even Akis tremble on the spot. Are you sure you didn't create a black hole during the attempt? It is plausible that you mistook the 'arrow' that is displayed before the numbers of the score scroll across for a "1".

I hope you have it on video, with sound! That way, your incredible achievement can be analyzed and checked. I doubt it, but if it happened to be genuine, you'll be the number one PowerBaller for ever, I think...

    Kind regards,
    Dennis

Either it was 10633, or a counter error...all Powerballs do that sometimes.

    Hi there,

So, does the Techno store the high score ever achieved (like the regular counters)? And if so, how do you get it to be displayed again?

    Kind regards,
    Dennis

    Hi Dennis,

When the rotor on the Techno comes to a stop the ball resets itself completely and so the high scores are not retained.

While the rotor is spinning, the high score is stored, and if you exceed your high score during a run then the LEDs will flash and the new score is displayed.

    Regards

    Enda

I'll just add this which we usually send to people who have problems with reading the scores on their Techno:

    The simplest method to follow is to;

    1. Ensure that the rotor is being activated in the direction of the arrow which has been etched onto its surface. If you rotate it in the opposite direction, the scrolling score will appear on the opposite end of the rotor surface (up at the section of the sphere which usually hosts the counter on the other Powerball models) and therefore will be illegible to you.
    2. Give the rotor a spin to start (either with your thumb or the cord) and immediately start increasing the revs.
    3. Once you have hit 6000rpm, the first LED will illuminate. At 7000rpm the next LED will appear and so on until you hit 12K at which time the blue LED will also appear.
    4. As soon as you are ready to read your score, simply stop spinning and allow the rotor to slow down. As each 1000rpm scrubs off, a LED will extinguish.
    5. After the final LED has disappeared, the score will begin to scroll across the rotor surface.
    6. There is a technique in holding the ball to allow you read that score - it is a combination of delicate yet firm support of the sphere which cancels the inner friction and stops the rotor from spinning on its second axis. Until you get that "hold technique" right, all you will see on the display is a series of jumbled letters.
    7. If you are failing to learn this hold technique, simply attach the wrist cord (if you haven't already done so) and drop the ball from your hand as the rotor slows, allowing it to hang by the wrist cord only. This will serve to instantly stabilise the rotor in the same way as holding it correctly in the hand and allow you see the scrolling score with ease.

I found this to be invaluable, as so far i have not been able to read the score when i hold the ball, i can get jumbled letters though nothing else so far. Letting the ball drop on the cord works a treat!!!
