First Problem
It seems as though I've run into my first powerball problem. Just for reference, before I opened it up for cleaning I was getting over 13,000 easily with each attempt.
Anyway, I opened it up last night after reading about the topic about cleaning it with alcohol. I cleaned the inner surfaces of the spheres, took off the support band and cleaned that and the areas of the exposed axle.
Here's the problem: After putting it back together, It was extremely smooth again, like when I had first gotten it out of the box and it was almost silent, again like a new Powerball. The problem is that I can't seem to get over 12,000 without putting in ridiculous effort and even then it's hard to get past 12K. Otherwise the ball seems to be working fine and isn't knocking or making any other strange noises. I don't understand what the problem could be.

dont worry, thats absolutly normal. after every cleaning to the powerball, the speed will be reduced. you have to use it thats it, youll be catching those high 13K in no time again =D

Thanks, I feel really relieved. For a little while I was going crazy thinking that I had destroyed my powerball and wrecked my chances of one day getting in the top 100 (I Hope)

I've noticed a few different things after cleanings. Sometimes, even though it's quiet, it doesn't feel quite right, and even after some use it never recovers. I could never figure out why, my friend noticed a very similar effect when he rotated the top and bottom half relative to each other when he re-assembled the ball, he rotated it back and immediately the ball went back to normal.
I personally have never seen this, and as mentioned above usually after cleaning the ball is slower but after a good few 30s or 90s runs, it should perk up and get back to full speed and maybe even more if there was enough debris to disrupt the movement of the ball inside!
