    Default Broken Wrist Rehab

My wife broke both her radius and ulna in a bike accident. 10 weeks post surgery where a metal plate and screws were implanted, she has very little range of pronation and supination in the joint (<15%). There has been little improvement even with weeks of PT which includes a variety of manual manipulations of the joint.

Would the use of a powerball be therapeutic for this type of rehab? If so, which model would be best suited for someone who is essentially limited to one hand other than the ability to make a "light" fist?

Sorry to hear about your wife's accident, the auto start powerball would probably be your best bet as it is very easy to start but a normal 250hz classic would be just as good for rehabilitation.

While you don't need much pronantion and supination to use a powerball, trying to get the hang of it might be difficult with your wifes current range.
However, since traditional physio is not helping much its definately worth a go. (It should help too).

She needs to be patient with it. She is unlikely to get it going the first 2, 3 or 15 times. I would recommend going for 2-3 minutes of trying, 2 or 3 times a day. The important thing is she "feels" the movement rather than trying to, initally, go fast.
Any powerball model would be fine, but I would not recommend the heavy metal ball until her grip improves.
