Default Power Ball Newbie, which is right for me?

I stumbled upon Power Balls recently and am very interested in joining the phenomenon. However, the number and types of options makes deciding on which one to buy quite difficult. Without having used one in the past, I have no baseline to measure against when comparing the 250Hz & 350Hz models. In addition, the starter cords seem like a hassle and they must break frequently (why else would replacements come in packs of ten?), so the autostart model may be worth the premium price.

Since I can't buy all of the models, I'm hoping the experts here can offer some guidance. I'm a 38 year old athletic male, fit but not a fanatic. Grip strength is interesting to me to apply to amateur mixed martial arts practice & matches, including grappling, Jiu-Jitsu, and Thai-clinch work.

I like the challenge & benefits of strength over endurance inherent in the 350Hz models, but it sounds like they are difficult to master for newbies. I like the idea of the autostart model since starting the gyro seems to be so difficult to initialise that it requires viewing multiple videos to even be able to begin utilising the PB, but it is only available in 250Hz. The limited edition seems highly regarded, but other than in finishing detail it's hard to discern much of a difference from the other 250 Hz models.

So which PB might you recommend to a newbie like me? Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated.

Hello there,i am sorry you did not get a reply for such a long time.I have been spinning for about 2 and a half years so i hope you get the answers you are looking for (:

the number and types of options makes deciding on which one to buy quite difficult. Without having used one in the past, I have no baseline to measure against when comparing the 250Hz & 350Hz models.
Yes,there is indeed a long list of powerballs to choose from.Since you were to compare the 250hz and 350hz models here is a brief description of each model:

250hz Classic - the well known gyroscope with all its original power and quality without a counter to measure scores(can be installed later)
250hz Pro - same as the classic but comes with a counter, little cheaper if you buy this instead of classic + counter
250hz neon - same with the above but also includes lights which glow the fastest your spin the gyro(its a little slower for that reason)
250hz fusion - a neon powerball with a rainbow of colors
250hz signature - same as neon but with grey shell and white lights
250hz screamer - the classic gyroscope but with louder noise
250hz Techno - a unique way of spinning wih many secrets to reveal
250hz autostart - no need for cords and no hassle as you mentioned to start;simply roll the rotor a little bit and youre ready to go!
    ___
350hz metal(phantom) - with 870grams of weight from pure metal and chrome finish spinning is now a real challenge (not adviced for amateurs)
350hz light metal(raptor) - same as the metal but with gold finish and a lightweight rotor reaching speeds in excess of 20k (not adviced for amateurs)

In addition, the starter cords seem like a hassle and they must break frequently (why else would replacements come in packs of ten?), so the autostart model may be worth the premium price.
No the cords dont break but they are likely to be lost and thats why there are replacement packs available(they will be useless if you practise on the thumb technique).Yes,the autostart model may be the ideal powerball for a starter but i still dont think that starting a powerball is something that hard. Its up to you though.

The powerball is not purposed to transform you into Stalone's brother but to increase your endurance strength, which it does 101%.It will work on your forearm, fingers, wrist and in general all your arm's parts. It will tone your muscles but it may also give you some muscle if you spin very very regularly. As far as im concered, powerball is recommended for martial arts athletes.

I like the challenge & benefits of strength over endurance inherent in the 350Hz models, but it sounds like they are difficult to master for newbies.
Thats truth. Most people choose 350hz to start with because they think that 250hz is way to little for them but they are wrong and may result in injuries if you are new to the technique and cant handle the force generated by the 3 times more heavy gyroscope. Its like wanting to drive a lamborgini when you dont even know how to drive a reasonably priced fiat

I like the idea of the autostart model since starting the gyro seems to be so difficult to initialise that it requires viewing multiple videos to even be able to begin utilising the PB, but it is only available in 250Hz.
Well,as i said above starting is not a big thing even for the regular 250hz.Getting in sync with the powerball itself so that you can speed it up and get it spinning in general exists in all powerball models. Its just a matter of practise and patience.

The limited edition seems highly regarded, but other than in finishing detail it's hard to discern much of a difference from the other 250 Hz models.
As i said in the description of the powerball models, the only difference are the white lights and the grey shell instead of the regular blue and amber.

    Happy spinning!

Try the metal one, it rocks seriously. You will get used to plastic ones too soon and they will seem easy.
